What makes your firm different?
We focus on building long-term relationships and understanding what really matters to you, including how you want to spend your time and money, and what ‘enough’ looks like. What areas of financial advice can you help me with?
We can help you build an overall financial plan tailored to your circumstances and goals, covering pensions, investments, retirement, protecting you and your family, tax-efficient planning and passing wealth to future generations.
Whether you’re planning ahead or facing an important financial decision, we’ll help you understand your options and make informed choices.
Can you help me plan for retirement?
Absolutely. We can help you plan for the retirement you want, exploring when you might be able to stop working, how much income you’ll need and how to make tax-efficient use of your pensions, savings and investments.
Using cashflow modelling, we can help you understand how your finances might support your lifestyle throughout retirement and make informed decisions about your future.
Can you help me understand when I can afford to retire?
Absolutely. You may be able to retire sooner than you think! Using cashflow modelling, we can explore different retirement dates to help you understand when you might be able to stop working and enjoy the lifestyle you want, without working longer than necessary. Our projections take account of your pensions, savings, investments and future spending needs. While based on assumptions rather than guarantees, they can help you make informed decisions about your retirement.
Can you help me consolidate old pensions?
Yes. If you’ve built up several pensions over the years, we can review them and help you decide whether bringing them together could make them easier to manage and better suited to your retirement plans.
Consolidation isn’t always the best option, as some pensions have valuable benefits or guarantees that could be lost. We’ll explain the advantages, disadvantages and costs before making a recommendation.
Can you help me make the most of my investments?
Yes. We can advise on most regulated investments and help make sure they’re appropriate for your objectives, attitude to risk and wider financial plan. Investments are an important tool, but we believe the starting point should always be understanding what you need your money to do rather than simply choosing investments.
Can you advise on mortgages?
We don’t provide mortgage advice ourselves, but we can introduce you to a specialist mortgage adviser. With your permission, we can share relevant information with each other to make the process easier and avoid you having to provide the same information twice.
Can you advise on equity release?
We don’t provide equity release advice ourselves, but we can introduce you to a specialist equity release adviser. With your permission, we can share relevant information with each other to make the process easier and avoid you having to provide the same information twice.
Can you advise on personal pensions?
Yes. We advise on personal pensions as part of your wider financial planning, whether you are building retirement savings, reviewing existing arrangements or starting to think about how you will eventually take an income from them.
Can you advise on occupational pensions?
Yes. We can help you understand your occupational pensions and how the benefits they provide fit alongside your other pensions, investments and wider retirement plans.
Can you help me consolidate multiple pensions?
Yes. We can review your existing pensions and, where it is in your interests, bring them together. We will not recommend consolidation simply for the sake of it; we will first consider the benefits and features you already have and what you ultimately need your pensions to do for you.
Can you help me take my pension tax-efficiently?
Yes. We’ll help you consider how and when to take money from your pensions alongside your other income, savings and investments. The aim is to create a withdrawal strategy that supports the lifestyle you want while making sensible use of the available tax allowances and planning opportunities.
Can you help with ethical or sustainable investing?
Absolutely. If you’d like your investments to reflect your personal values, we can help you explore ethical and sustainable investment options. We’ll consider what’s important to you alongside your financial goals, attitude to risk and investment preferences, helping you make informed choices.
Can you help me invest an inheritance I’ve received?
Yes. Before investing an inheritance, we will first look at what the money could enable you to do and how it fits into your wider financial position. From there, we can advise on how much should be invested, how it should be structured and whether some of it might be better used for other priorities.
Can you advise on self-invested personal pensions (SIPPs)?
Yes. We can advise on self-invested personal pensions (SIPPs) and whether one is appropriate for your circumstances and retirement plans. As with any pension, the starting point is what you need it to achieve rather than choosing a particular product first.
Can you advise on final salary or defined benefit pensions?
Yes. We can help you understand the benefits provided by a final salary or defined benefit pension and how those benefits fit into your wider retirement plan. However, we do not hold the specialist permissions required to advise on transferring these pensions and therefore do not provide defined benefit transfer advice.
Can you advise on workplace and occupational pensions?
Yes. We can help you make the most of your workplace pension, including employer contributions, tax-efficient ways to boost your savings and understanding your retirement options.
We’ll also consider how your pension fits into your overall financial plan. We don’t advise on transferring defined benefit (final salary) pensions, but we help you find a pension transfer specialist if needed.
Can you advise on annuities?
Yes. We can advise on annuities and whether securing some or all of your retirement income in this way is appropriate. We’ll consider this alongside alternatives such as pension drawdown and your other sources of retirement income.
Can you help with pension drawdown?
Yes. We can help you understand how pension drawdown works, whether it’s right for you and how much income you might be able to take. We’ll consider your retirement goals, tax implications and the risk of your pension savings running out too soon, helping you make informed decisions about your retirement income.
Can you help me understand how much income I can take in retirement?
Absolutely. We can look at your pensions, savings, investments and future spending needs to help you understand how much retirement income you might be able to take without running out of money too soon. Using cashflow modelling, we can explore different scenarios to help you make informed decisions, although projections cannot guarantee future outcomes.

Can you advise on trusts?
We can help you understand how trusts might fit into your overall financial plan, including protecting family wealth and passing money to future generations. With your permission, we can work together to help ensure your financial and estate planning arrangements complement each other.
Can you help me pass wealth on to my children or grandchildren?

Can you help me make gifts during my lifetime?
Yes. We can use financial and cashflow planning to understand what you can comfortably afford to give away during your lifetime without jeopardising your own future. We can then consider how those gifts fit into your wider estate and Inheritance Tax planning.
Can you advise on life insurance and protection?
Yes. We can advise on life insurance and other forms of financial protection, looking at what would happen financially to you and the people who depend on you if something unexpected happened. Protection is considered as part of the overall financial plan rather than in isolation.
Can you help with tax planning?
Yes. Tax planning is an important part of financial planning, whether you are building wealth, approaching retirement, drawing an income or thinking about passing money to the next generation. We’ll look for appropriate ways to structure your finances tax-efficiently while keeping your wider objectives at the centre of the advice.
Do you offer advice on long-term care or later-life planning?

We don’t provide specialist long-term care advice, but we can help you find an appropriately qualified specialist if needed.

Do you offer a free initial consultation?
Yes. Our initial introductory call and subsequent Discovery Meeting are both complimentary, with no obligation to proceed. This gives us time to understand what you are looking to achieve, explain how we may be able to help and establish whether working together is right for both sides.
How do you charge for financial advice?
Our fees depend on the work required. We agree a fixed fee for producing your financial plan and, if you decide to implement our recommendations, we will agree the implementation cost with you before any work begins. For clients who choose our ongoing advice service, the fee is based on the value of the portfolio we look after, using a tiered percentage that reduces as the portfolio increases.
What is your minimum fee?
There is not one minimum fee covering every type of advice. Our financial planning fees currently start from £1,500, while implementation work is normally subject to a minimum fee of £2,500. We’ll always explain and agree the specific cost with you before you commit to any paid work.
What do you typically charge for a financial plan?
Our financial planning fee is typically between £1,500 and £3,000, depending on the complexity of your circumstances and the planning required. For example, straightforward retirement saving advice may be towards the lower end, while retirement or more complex inheritance and estate planning will typically cost more. Your exact fee is agreed with you following the complimentary Discovery Meeting before you decide whether to proceed.
Do you charge fixed fees or a percentage of my investments?
We use both, depending on the service. Financial planning and implementation are normally agreed as fixed fees, while our ongoing advice service uses a tiered percentage based on the portfolio we look after. The percentage reduces for larger portfolios, and all costs are explained clearly before you decide to proceed.
Do you get commission?
We do not receive commission on pension or investment products, so our recommendations are not influenced by payments from providers. The exception is certain protection products, such as life insurance, where we may receive commission from the insurance provider. Where this applies, we will explain it to you as part of our advice.
Will I know exactly what I’ll pay before I agree to proceed?
Absolutely. We believe in being completely transparent. We’ll explain and agree our fees with you before any paid work begins, so there are no surprises. We’ll also explain any pension or investment charges and the actual cost to you. Where charges are percentage-based, the amount you pay may change as your investment values change.
Can your fees be paid from my investments or pension?
Yes. In many cases, our fees can be deducted directly from your investments or pension, so you don’t need to pay them separately. We’ll explain your payment options and agree these with you beforehand.
It’s important to remember that fees deducted this way reduce the amount you have invested and may affect its future value.
Do I have to take your ongoing advice service?
No. Our initial financial planning, recommendations and implementation are separate stages, so you are not required to take our ongoing advice service. We’ll explain what ongoing advice would provide and you can decide whether it is right for you.
What do I get for your ongoing advice fee?
Our ongoing advice service helps keep your financial plan on track as your circumstances and goals change. This includes reviewing your pensions and investments, planning your spending, savings and retirement income, and considering tax-efficient planning, gifting and passing wealth to future generations.
We’re also here throughout the year if your circumstances change or you have an important financial decision to make.
Can I work with you for one-off advice rather than ongoing advice?
Yes. We do undertake one-off advice where we believe we can genuinely add value. We’ll first understand what you need help with and then establish whether a one-off piece of work or an ongoing financial planning relationship would be more appropriate.
Is there a minimum amount of money I need before you’ll work with me?
No. We do not have a fixed minimum amount you need before speaking to us, and we work with people who are still building wealth as well as those who have already accumulated pensions, investments and other assets. What matters is whether your circumstances suit the type of financial planning we provide and whether we believe our advice can genuinely add value.
Do you charge VAT?
Our financial advice and ongoing advice fees are not currently subject to VAT. If VAT applies to any particular piece of work, we will make this clear before you agree to proceed.
How can I find your fees?
We believe in being completely transparent about our fees. You’ll find details of our charges in the documents we provide at the outset of our advice process. We’ll also explain the costs relevant to your circumstances before you agree to proceed.
Are my investments protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?
We only recommend regulated investments, and eligible investments and pensions may benefit from protection through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). The level of protection depends on the type of investment and the circumstances, and we will explain the protections that apply to any arrangements we recommend.
What happens if something goes wrong or I have a complaint?
If you are ever unhappy with our advice or service, we’d encourage you to speak to us first, so we have the opportunity to put things right. We have a formal complaint process and, if we are unable to resolve your complaint, you may be entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service free of charge.
How do you keep my personal data secure?
We take the security and privacy of client information seriously and use appropriate technical security measures to protect personal data from unauthorised access. Information is stored securely and encrypted wherever possible, and we also provide a secure online portal for sharing sensitive financial information and documents.
Are you insured to give financial advice?
Yes. We maintain professional indemnity insurance (PI) as part of the protections in place for our regulated financial advice business.

Do you have client stories or case studies I can read?
Yes. You can read testimonials and independently posted Google reviews from clients, and we are also looking to introduce more client stories to our website. Where appropriate, existing clients are often happy to speak to prospective clients about their experience of working with us.
Can you help me retire early?
Absolutely! You may be able to retire sooner than you think. Using cashflow modelling, we can explore different retirement dates to help you understand whether your pensions, savings and investments could support the lifestyle you want, without working longer than necessary.
While projections are based on assumptions and cannot guarantee future outcomes, they can help you make informed decisions about your retirement.
Can you help me plan my retirement?
Yes. Retirement planning is a core part of our work. We can help you understand the lifestyle you want, when you may be able to stop working and how to structure pensions, investments and a sustainable, tax-efficient retirement income.
What type of clients do you typically work with?
We work with people who are building wealth and with those who have already accumulated pensions, investments and other assets and want to understand what to do next. Our core clients include people approaching or already in retirement, business owners and families looking to plan and pass wealth to the next generation.
Do you work with younger clients who are still building wealth?
Yes. We work with younger clients who are still accumulating wealth where we believe our planning can add value. We can help you make sensible decisions about saving, investing, pensions, tax and your longer-term goals.
Do you work with company directors or self-employed clients?
Absolutely. Company directors and self-employed people form an important part of our client base. We help company directors and self-employed people make the most of their finances, including tax-efficient pension contributions, investments, protecting their income and planning for retirement.
We can also work alongside your accountant to help ensure your personal and business financial plans complement each other.
Do you work with clients approaching retirement or already retired?
Yes. Whether you’re planning for retirement or already enjoying it, we can help you make the most of your money.
From understanding when you might be able to retire and how much income you’ll need, to managing your spending, pensions and investments tax-efficiently, we’ll help you plan for the lifestyle you want while considering your longer-term financial security.
Do you work with people approaching retirement?
Absolutely. We can help you prepare for retirement by exploring when you might be able to stop working, how much income you’ll need and how to make tax-efficient use of your pensions, savings and investments to support the lifestyle you want.
Using cashflow modelling, we can help you make informed decisions about your retirement and plan for the years ahead.
Do you work with people who are already retired?
Yes. We work with many clients throughout retirement, helping them make the most of their money by managing their income, pensions and investments, planning their spending and considering how much they might be able to gift to loved ones.
Using cashflow modelling, we can also explore how their finances might support the lifestyle they want while considering their longer-term financial security.
Do you work with business owners?
We help business owners, company directors and self-employed people plan for their personal and business financial futures. This can include pensions, investments, tax-efficient planning, protecting their income and preparing for the eventual sale of a business.
We can also help you understand how the proceeds from selling your business could support the next chapter of your life, working alongside your accountant or solicitor where specialist tax or legal advice is needed.
Do you work with families who want to pass wealth to the next generation?
Absolutely. We can help you plan how to pass wealth to your loved ones through gifting, tax-efficient financial planning and considering how your pensions and investments fit into your wider estate plans.
Importantly, we’ll also help you understand how much you might be able to give away without compromising your own financial future. Where specialist legal or tax advice is needed, we can work alongside your solicitor or other specialists.
Can you help clients who have inherited money?
Yes. We can help you understand what an inheritance means for your wider financial position and what you want the money to achieve. That might include investing some of it, but also considering whether it could allow you to retire earlier, reduce debt, help your own family or achieve other things that are important to you.
Can you help clients who have sold, or are in the process of selling, a business?
Yes. We can work with business owners both before and after a business sale, helping them understand how the proceeds could support the next stage of their lives. Where appropriate, we will also work alongside their accountant, solicitor and other professional advisers so the different areas of planning are properly coordinated.
Can you help clients manage their finances after a bereavement?
Yes. We can help you after a bereavement, particularly if you suddenly find yourself responsible for financial decisions, pensions or investments that may previously have been managed by your partner. We will help you understand your position and make decisions at a pace you are comfortable with.
Do you specialise in working with business owners, retirees, or professionals?
Yes. A large part of our work is with business owners and people approaching or already in retirement, although we also work with professionals and people who are still accumulating wealth. Our particular strength is helping people understand what they’ve built up, what ‘enough’ looks like and how they can use their money to support the life they want.
Do you offer financial advice for expats or non-UK residents?
No. Our financial advice is primarily for UK residents, as advising someone living overseas can involve different regulatory and tax considerations. However, we have contacts who specialise in advising expats and non-UK residents and, where appropriate, we are happy to introduce you to someone who can help.
Can you help if I already have existing investments or pensions elsewhere?
Yes. Most clients already have pensions, investments or other financial arrangements when they first come to us. We’ll review what you already have, understand what it is designed to do and assess whether it remains suitable before recommending that anything should be changed.
Is there a minimum amount of investable assets or income I need to become a client?
No. We do not operate a fixed minimum level of assets or income. What matters is whether your circumstances are suitable for the type of financial planning we provide and whether we believe we can genuinely add value.
What if I need extra help or support?
We understand that everyone’s circumstances are different and that sometimes you may need a little extra support.
Whether you’d prefer information explained differently, provided in a different format, someone you trust to join your meetings, or more time to make decisions, just let us know. We’re happy to adapt how we work with you to help you feel comfortable and confident.
How can I book an initial meeting?
You can book a 30-minute introductory call and choose a convenient time from our calendar. You are also welcome to call us directly, particularly if an existing client has introduced you. Setting aside a dedicated time means we can both prepare and give the conversation our full attention.
Do I have to pay for an initial meeting?
No. After your introductory call, we can arrange a complimentary one-hour meeting, either face-to-face or online. It gives us time to understand why you have reached out, what you would like help with and whether we believe we can genuinely add value, while giving you the chance to decide whether working together feels right.
What do I need to bring to an initial meeting?
Before the Discovery Meeting, we will invite you to complete information through our secure client portal, including details of your income, assets, pensions, investments and liabilities. This helps us understand your starting position before we meet. We can then use the meeting to focus on what matters to you, what you want your money to help you achieve and where we may be able to help.
What happens at the Discovery Meeting?
It’s all about getting to know you, understanding what’s important in your life and what you’d like your money to achieve.
We’ll explore your financial goals, whether that’s retiring earlier, enjoying more of your money, helping your family or simply feeling more confident about your financial future.
It’s also your opportunity to get to know us and decide whether we’re the right advisers for you.
How long should I allow for a Discovery Meeting?
A Discovery Meeting will usually take around an hour, although we allow up to 90 minutes when that is helpful. We do not want the meeting to feel rushed, so we will take the time needed to understand your circumstances and what you would like to achieve.
Do I have to sign up to your services at an initial meeting?
No. Our Discovery Meeting is complimentary, and there is no obligation to proceed, so you only move forward if we both agree that working together is right. Before any paid work begins, we will explain what we will do and agree a fee with you within our normal pricing framework.
How often will I hear from my financial planner?
As a minimum, we will have a financial planning meeting with you at least once a year, although many clients meet with us more often depending on their circumstances and the planning required. We also keep in touch throughout the year, and you can contact your financial planner whenever you want to discuss something or need our help.
Do you use cashflow forecasting/planning?
Absolutely. Cashflow modelling is an important part of our financial planning process. It helps us explore whether your finances could support your future plans, such as retiring earlier, spending more or helping loved ones.
While projections are based on assumptions rather than guarantees, they can help you make informed decisions about your financial future.
What happens if my circumstances change?
Life changes, and your financial plan may need to change with it. If you’re receiving our ongoing advice service, there’s no need to wait until your next review – just get in touch when something changes.
Whether you’re approaching retirement, receiving an inheritance or experiencing a change in family circumstances, we’re here to discuss what this means for your financial plan and whether any adjustments are needed.
Will you work alongside my accountant or solicitor?
Absolutely. With your permission, we’re happy to work alongside your accountant, solicitor or other professional advisers, sharing relevant information where appropriate.
This helps ensure the different aspects of your financial planning work together, while avoiding unnecessary duplication.
Can you coordinate with my mortgage adviser?
Yes. We actively encourage working alongside your mortgage adviser and other professional advisers where appropriate. Keeping everyone in communication helps join up the different parts of your financial planning and makes the process simpler and more coordinated for you.
Can I see an example financial plan?
Every financial plan we produce is specific to you, so we do not generally use generic example plans. Before you decide to proceed, we will explain what your financial planning is likely to cover, the areas we will look at and the types of recommendations or potential shortfalls we may identify.
Can I see my investments online?
Yes. You will have secure online access to your investments, so you can log in and see your investments and their current values whenever you wish.
Do you have an online client portal?
Yes. You will have access to a secure online portal where we can share information and documents, communicate securely and keep your financial information and fact-finds up to date. It gives us a secure and convenient way to share sensitive financial information with you.
How often will I meet with my financial planner?
We will meet at least once a year, although many clients benefit from more frequent meetings because of annual tax planning, approaching retirement or a significant change in circumstances. At important stages, such as immediately before retirement, we may meet several times to make sure everything is properly planned, and you are comfortable with the decisions being made.
